Evaluation FMP Liseberg Documentary/video & website

1. State clearly what media product your FMP is.

For my Fmp I choose to create two products instead of one. I choose to create a website and a documentary. I choose a website because I think it will help people find the information they need much easier and a website is a great way to present the place. And I choose to film a documentary because I think people will be much more interested to watch a video/documentary than to read a magazine and in a documentary you could show, talk and give. You can give a lot more information and it’s in a fun way. My documentary is 11 minutes and I dont think it’s a long documentary compared to other documentaries that I've watched.

For research Watched many documentaries both in Swedish and English. My documentary and website is about a very famous and old amusement park from 1752. The amusement park is called Liseberg and it’s located in Gothenburg,Sweden. I was born and raised in Gothenburg so I know alot about Gothenburg and liseberg. because when I was a kid i always used to go there. I choose it because of how old it is and I know alot about it and it's my favorite place to be in. To create the website and documentary I need a lot of footage so I decided to travel to sweden and go to Liseberg to record everything and so I could have my own footage instead of using footage from the internet, every image/video and text is from me.

2. Reflect back on your proposal

Did you meet the deadline that was set? What did you achieve

in the end compared to what you set out to do...use positive language and concentrate on your

success, not your failures?

When I decided to create two products instead of one I saw it as a challenge and I love challenges. So i started with my website and when i finished it I was happy with it but then I remembered that I have the documentary. When I did the proposal I thought I had a lot of time but I realized that i have to hurry up because when i planed the proposal I thought that I will do the website and the documentary and I will still have time left but in when I started my product i realized that i did not have enough time so for my documentary i edited the videos together really quick because i knew that the sound/music and the video effect will take a long time so When i finished the exporting the videos that i took from Liseberg i started with the music and the effects. The effect that I used a lot was the Dip black effect after almost every clipp.

And after all of the editing and also changing stuff on my website I finally finished both of them and I am pretty happy about them and I am happy that I managed to finish both my website and my documentary/video.

3. Assess how your FMP media product(s) meet the needs of the target audience: eg: through the

use of colors, typography, shape, posi

tioning of Graphics, video, editing style, etc. Why is your

product appealing to your target audience?

So for my product my target audience is teenagers between the age of 13-18. more than 70% of the people that visit Liseberg are between 13 and 18 and I am 16 so I can relate to the teenagers and their ideas and I can develop these ideas to my product. For example, for my website I use more modern images, also images that are more fun and colorful instead of using old images from lisebergs history. For my website i Tried to keep it easy to use and easy to read. I tried to put all the important information that teenagers will need or is searching up. I also put Q&A to answer some important questions. I tried to keep it simple with the colors and the texts so it won't get boring. I also added some quotes under the images to make it more fun and eye-catching. For teenagers like me we don't want to read a whole page of information. That is why I keep my text short and sweet.

For my documentary I had a few ideas to make it appealing for my target audience. So fistof all i Used more videos and less text and information. I used background music that suits teenagers, that has a lot of energy. To get more ideas and to make the documentary more entertaining and interesting I interviewed a few teenagers in the park and asked them some questions so I could hear their opinion on the park and their point of view.

4. How does your media product function and how successful was its final layout, composition or

edit

make sure you identify why you chose that shape/d

esign/edit style, the measurements,

layout, horizontal/vertical, readability and size of text, the information in the product and

positioning of photos, white (empty) space, etc.

At the beginning My production was smooth but for example for my documentary when I started to add many videos it started to crash and lag. A few videos did not upload and few of them just turned into a black screen. but I changed the videos and added a few others. It started to work, it was a bit slow but it did the job.

For my website I chose the simple design so it will be much easier to use it and also you will understand the information in a better way. I chose the text to be in a smaller size so you will focus more on the images in the website. When you have enough from the images then you go to the text and see what is going on. I think a picture is a better way to describe a place than to describe it by text. The information I chose for my website and documentary I think is the most important and interesting information that I know and I could find.

For my documentary the angles and the sizes of the videos was an issue because when I recorded the videos I used my phone so it's really hard to get a perfect size or design. If I try to zoom in a video it will crop a big piece of the video so I did not change that. For my final product I was pretty happy because I managed to get all of my trip footage in my documentary and website. I used the images I took of the rides on my documentary and website. I used Wix for my website and I used Adobe premier for my documentary. I found it really easy to edit websites on wix and the same with premier I found it easy to edit with.

5. If you used video

how successfully did you mix sound and vision?

So in my documentary I choose to have videos of different rides and in the editing I use background music when I put video of the rides and then when I am talking in the video I stop the music so you can hear me clearly. I also try to mix the music and have it in different parts so it will be more fun.

6

. Describe the technologies/software you used to create your product and what specific software

and editing tools that you used to good creative effect

For my website I used wix. I got ideas of different website designs from them and It helped me alot to decide what to pick. For my documentary I used Adobe Premiere pro. I think premiere pro is one of the best editing softwares. You can do so much and use so many tools that will help me create an amazing video.

For the tools In Premiere pro I mainly used the dip black tool. I use It almost after every video so it will give the next clip that fun slow fading. I also used the cutting tool so I will cut long videos and make them shorter.

7

. Use technical keywords: editing, mixing, fading, mixing, typography, colour combinations,

layout, record

ing levels, timings, fades, horizontal/vertical, readability, margins, etc

8

.

What professional examples

influenced your design? Explain how the professional examples

influenced your own design

-

similar audience, editing/film style, choice of sound/music

, use of

colour, typography, shape, columns, photographs, margin set.

The professional example that not just influenced me but also helped me with my product is the Liseberg website (the main website). The website had so much important information about liseberg and I also used a similar design because the liseberg website design is also simple and not confusing like many other websites. I used a similar photograph but the difference is that I took all of the images in the website but I tried the same idea they had. For my documentary i watch documentaries so I know a few things but when I edited the documentary it turned out more like a video/vlog than a documentary but it still had a lot of information.

9

. What worked really well with your product?

What I think worked well is the videos together. At the beginning I thought that the videos were too random and separate but I combined the videos with the editing and I got the results. I also think that the images in the website were perfect and the text I wrote was very good and interesting. I also think in the documentary it was not too much information, it was a lot of videos of rides instead. But of all of this I think the thing that went really well was the combination of the videos. They fit together perfectly. And the edit made it ten times better with the music of course.

10

. Does your product match up to your initial idea? What could you have done better if you had

more time?

My initial idea was to create a professional documentary but it did not go as planned. I realized I did not have the right equipment and I did not have enough time. If I had more time I would not change the website because I like it but I will change the documentary. I will get a camera, I will get more people involved and I will also record in a different way, a more quiet and sturdy camera. I will also give more information and have staff members from the park involved.
