Object: The Grays Inn Lane handaxe
Pointed flint handaxe reduced from a nodule and bifacially modified. The edges are straight above the butt, converging to a slightly rounded tip. Small scalar ancient edge damage occurs on both edges but is heavier on the right side. The convex edges of the butt retain the cortex. Plano-convex cross-section. Patinated and stained orange-brown from its deposition in gravel.
Johanna Jonkers, The African choir, 1891
Johanna Jonkers was a member of The African Choir and performed for HM Queen Victoria. Little else is currently known about her, except that she was of Zulu descent and born in Burgersdorp, in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Her portrait and interview were featured in The Illustrated London News on 29 August 1891
The African Choir was a group of fourteen young men and women, and two children, from South Africa, then under British rule. The choir toured Britain between 1891 and 1893, ostensibly to raise funds to build a technical college on the Cape Coast to support the expanding black labor force. They performed to great acclaim and large audiences at Crystal Palace, for members of the British aristocracy and leading political figures, and most notably for Queen Victoria at Osborne House, Isle of Wight. Their stage repertoire was divided into two halves: one comprised Christian hymns sung in English together with popular operatic arias and choruses; the other traditional African hymns. The choir appeared in traditional African dress, and in contemporary Victorian dress in response.

Amusement park animation
1.
I want to do two different things documentary video and a poster/magazine. I choose an amusement park and to be more specific Liseberg. I choose it because it is my absolute favorite place to go to and I have a lot of memories there. So that's why I choose Liseberg and I choose two different ways to show the history of Liseberg in the best way and to develop my ideas.
- 1.Write a sentence about what kind of products/ outcomes you'd like to focus on (be specific e.g website, poster, graphic design, app, animation) linked to the themes you've explored so far and your proposal.
- 2. Find at least 3 products/ designs that appeal to you based on what you have stated in your sentence. Use the books/ websites to search for a variety of products for ideas that you can discuss at the end of the lesson
Analyzing media items with a theme of history
What is the purpose of the item? What is it about and for?
The purpose is to educate people about nature and different plants. It's about nature and different trees and plants. I can see different images of trees and also a few maps of the forest. They are giving out information about nature and the environment.
What tone/language is used? Chatty? Enthusiastic? Informative?
It's a bit hard to read because the letters are not clear but from what I can see it's informative. It gives a lot of information about different things in nature for example trees and plants.
